Soft, warm and inviting, carpet is a popular choice for hallways and bedrooms. Carpet comes in an almost endless array of colors and styles for the look and feel you want. Textures are plush, tailored, or patterned to bring out the personality of almost any room.
There are four basic types of fibers. When choosing a fiber, the use of space must be determined.
Place walk-off mats outside all entrances to prevent excessive dirt, sand and grit to track into the home.
Use a good carpet pad to give better resilience and comfort underfoot. It can also extend the life of your carpet, especially on stairs. Some pads offer extended warranties for your carpet
Moving your furniture occasionally will help avoid excessive pile crushing.
Consider using carpet protectors under the legs of tables, chairs, and other furniture to help distribute the weight.
Use a protective barrier such as heavy cardboard or plywood when moving heavy wheeled furniture
Reduce areas of direct sunlight
Vacuuming thoroughly and frequently, particularly in high-traffic areas with a quality vacuum. Walking on soiled carpet allows the soil particles to work their way below the surface of the pile where they are far more difficult to remove
and can damage the carpet fibers.
Manufacturers recommend using vacuums with a rotating brush or combination beater/brush bar that agitates the carpet pile and mechanically loosens soil
Some carpets have stain resistant treatments that improve your ability to clean stains, but not prevent them. Similarly, carpets with soil resistant treatments reduce the rate of soiling, but all carpets require regular care and
maintenance.
For proper cleaning instructions of stains & soil refer to the manufacturer recommendations.
